Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker 2021 · 27x31 gold, pigments
Saint Nicholas is among the most beloved saints of the Orthodox world, revered as a protector of travellers, sailors, children and all who find themselves in need. His many recorded miracles gave him the name by which he is known here — the Wonderworker.
He is shown in bishop's vestments, his right hand raised in blessing, the Gospel book in his left. The icon is painted in egg tempera with natural pigments on a wooden panel, with gold leaf in the halo and background, following the Byzantine tradition.
Saint Nicholas of Myra 2021 · 27x31 gold, pigments
Before he became one of the most venerated saints of Christendom, Nicholas was bishop of the city of Myra in Lycia, on the southern coast of Asia Minor. He was known in his lifetime for defending the wrongly accused and for giving away his inheritance in secret.
The image follows the classical episcopal type: a high forehead, a short rounded beard, and the calm, direct gaze that iconographers have preserved for centuries. Egg tempera and natural pigments on wood, with gold leaf.
St. Spyridon of Trimythous 2022 · 27x31 gold, pigments
A quieter reading of the saint, painted with restraint and warmth. Saint Nicholas is venerated across both the Eastern and Western Christian traditions, and few images are found in as many homes as his.
Written in the traditional manner — egg tempera bound with egg yolk, natural pigments and gold leaf on a prepared wooden panel — following the canon while leaving room for the quiet individuality of a hand-painted icon.
